Amendment to abolish blasphemy in Northern Ireland withdrawn

Thank you for your prayers and action. The House of Lords debated yesterday, 28 October 2009, Lord Lester's clause included in the Coroners and Justice Bill to abolish blasphemy in Northern Ireland. The amendment was withdrawn. This means that the law stands as it is.
CCFON believes it would be unacceptable for the House of Lords to make a decision which would affect the religious culture of Northern Ireland without proper discussion and without involving Northern Ireland’s elected representatives.
